PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
FOR 2011
|
President's Message A year in review by Garry Lemon A year in renewal—as Jaguar the manufacturer has gathered universal admiration for new models, so too has the Jaguar Aficionados Club of Greater Buffalo gained attention and expanded membership. New members bring new ideas and experiences. More importantly, we enjoy our travels and times together. Our travels have taken us back in time to re-visit some of our favourite communities—the Amish of southern New York State remind us of a less complicated time. We enjoyed sampling cheese, jam and fudge and driving the winding and twisting roads through their rural farmscape. Our travels also took us to the shoreline of Lake Ontario for lunch at an old and well regarded restaurant. After lunch, we drove to one of the newer wineries in upper New York State for a wine tasting. As we travelled, we invited members of the local British Car Club of Western New York to join us at the Heritage Warplane Museum in southern Ontario. The volunteer staff overviewed the reality of ‘volunteerism’—from teaching maintenance skills to telling the changing role of the airplane. Our social committee was busy. ‘Games Night’—complete with racetrack a team navigator and ‘trivial’ pursuit questions. ‘Ellicottville Cars and Jazz Festival’—accompanied by a delicious lunch. The club thanks our tireless and one and only--Eileen Nowak!
